Templo Machay

HORSEBACK RIDDING “TEMPLO MACHAY”

We leave the city of Riobamba towards the community of San Pablo Pulinguí, located at 4000 mts (13123ft), where you get a fantastic view of Volcano Chimborazo. We meet with our native guides who will explain the journey to make. We took our horses and headed out to the community Chorrera, where we start the journey to the Temple Machay. Along the way, we pass by some grasslands, native vegetation of the moor, observe the "dunes" that are part of the high desert. After 3 hours of ascent, we arrived at Machay Temple, a sacred Puruhá´s culture place. Before entering into it, the guide will perform an ancient ritual, where the mountain can accept our visit. Box lunch on the site. Beginning of the descent, we cross the moor to reach the solitary tree, unique of its kind, home to several mountain birds like the Andean Eagle. Arrival to Pulinguí community where we´ll have a hot typical drink.  Return to Riobamba.
